On April 24 afternoon, Jiang Zeting, Council Chair of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), met with OMIRALI ZHAZIRA, President of Kunayev University of Kazakhstan, at CUPL’s Haidian Campus. Lu Chunlong, Vice President of CUPL, attended and hosted the meeting.
CUPL Council Chair Jiang Zeting extended a warm welcome to President ZHAZIRA and her delegation. He noted that China and Kazakhstan are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, as well as key partners in jointly advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He proposed that both universities continue to build on the BRI platform, with CUPL’s Institute of Law-based Governance of Xinjiang as a coordination hub. The proposed collaboration includes jointly establishing BRI Legal Education Alliance, setting up “Center for Country and Area Studies”, cooperating on judicial training programs, and cultivating legal talent in the spirit of rule of law. These efforts would usher in a new chapter in China-Kazakhstan legal education cooperation.
President ZHAZIRA expressed her appreciation for CUPL’s warm reception and responded positively to the relevant cooperation proposals under the BRI framework. She remarked that these proposals were both pragmatic and constructive, and would enhance bilateral friendship and deepen institutional collaboration. The two sides then held in-depth discussions and reached consensus on matters such as the visit of CUPL delegation to Kazakhstan and the inauguration of the “Center for Country and Area Studies”.
