Promoting the Cultivation of Talents in Foreign-Related Rule of Law: CUPL Holds the 11th “Study Abroad Fair for 2025/26 Scholarship Master Programs”

On October 17, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) successfully held the 11th Study Abroad Fair for the 2025/26 Scholarship Master Programs across its Haidian and Changping Campuses. Vice President Lu Chunlong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Li Juqian, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and Dean of the School of International Education.

Vice President Lu expressed heartfelt gratitude and warm welcomes to over 30 representatives from 23 universities and institutions across 10 countries and regions. He emphasized that the “Study Abroad Fair for Scholarship Master Programs” serves as an important platform for cultivating high-end international talents at CUPL. Currently, the university has 60 project partners and offers 72 programs, with scholarships ranging from 10% tuition fee exemptions to full scholarships with living allowances. The fields supported by these scholarships have expanded beyond law to include political science, international relations, public administration, and public policy. Lu encouraged students attending the fair to seize this rare opportunity, actively engage in discussions, and represent themselves and CUPL well. He wished them success in their applications to their desired institutions and expressed hopes for further exchanges and cooperation with partner universities in broader fields and at higher levels. He also highlighted the success of the second World Jurists Forum held at CUPL on May 16.

Martin Camp, Assistant Dean for Graduate and International Programs at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, delivered remarks as a foreign representative. He illustrated the significance of studying abroad through his personal experiences and encouraged students to engage fully with the representatives present. He wished them opportunities to experience different cultures, languages, and research methods firsthand, and to become "cultural ambassadors" during their study abroad, promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and other countries.

Before the opening ceremony, Li Juqian met with the foreign representatives to discuss the details of each program and explore future cooperation opportunities. During the ceremony, he introduced the attending representatives and expressed warm welcomes and gratitude. He highlighted the progress made by CUPL students after participating in the programs and their outstanding performances in major international moot court competitions. He expressed hope that more exceptional CUPL students would enhance their capabilities through these abroad programs and emerge as internationally competitive talents.

The 11th Fair was held successively at both the Haidian and Changping campuses, featuring representatives from various institutions, including Georgetown University, George Mason University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Southern Methodist University from the United States; Bangor University and the University of Bristol from the UK; IE University from Spain; the Institute for Law and Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main from Germany; LUISS Guido Carli University from Italy; University College Cork from Ireland; The University of Sydney from Australia; Doshisha University from Japan; National University of Singapore; as well as the Project Office of German University in China and institutions in Hong Kong and Macau. Notably, George Mason University and Bangor University participated for the first time.

During the fair, delegates from international partner institutions provided detailed introductions to their programs, including features, advantages, employment prospects, scholarship availability, and application requirements. They also addressed students' concerns. Additionally, staff from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office discussed programs from institutions that were not represented and provided information on internal application processes.

Approximately 300 students participated in consultations during this event across both campuses. The success of the Eleventh Fair was supported by various administrative departments at CUPL, including the Communication Department, Academic Office, Graduate School, Security Office, Logistics Office, and the Communist Youth League, contributing significantly to the 2024 International Culture Month activities at the university.
