On May 7, the 18th Student Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships of Capital Universities, hosted by the Federation of University Sports of Beijing, was held at the Shougang Industrial Park in Shijingshan District, Beijing. A total of more than 300 students from 37 capital universities, including Tsinghua University and Peking University, competed for awards of various events such as bodybuilding, fitness, and fitness model event. It is the first time for the team of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) to participate in this competition. Our team member Kang Ning won the championship in the women's fitness model event.

In women's events, our two players, Zhang Yufang, a postgraduate student enrolled in 2022 majoring education law in the School of Law, and Kang Ning, a postgraduate student enrolled in 2021 in the Business School, had excellent performance. Kang Ning won the championship in the women's fitness model group B, and then stood out from other competitors in the overall championship, winning the women's fitness model overall championship (the grand final winner from all champions and runners-ups of every group). In men’s events, Xiao Junze, a doctoral student enrolled in 2022 majoring criminal law, stood out in the men's bodybuilding 70KG group and won fourth place. Bo Linbo, a postgraduate student enrolled in 2022 majoring education law, and Zhao Hantao, a postgraduate student enrolled in 2022 pursuing Juris Master degree, respectively participated in group C and group D of men's fitness project. Despite the large number of participants in these group and the fierce competition, both of our players withstood the pressure and achieved good results.

Most of our players were first-time competitors and lacked experience, but with the thoughtful and professional guidance of Li Miaomiao, a teacher in the Department of Physical Education, and with the support from our Alumni Association, they were "not afraid of difficulties and overcame challenges through hard work". Our players went through several months of arduous preparation, during which they received intensive strength and bodybuilding training for a better body shape, and carried out extremely strict diet and sleeping patterns, while maintaining their academic routines. Finally, their tenacious and hardworking attitude as well as elegant and confident manner, won the recognition of other competitors, the audience, and the referees! Standing in the spotlight, they there awarded for their excellent performance.

Of course, Rome was not built in a day and neither was our achievements, which are not only contributed to our continuous investment in gyms and facilities, but also to the diversified campus sports promoted by the Department of Physical Education in recent years. Bodybuilding and fitness, which require scientific training, strict self-discipline and long-term persistence, are very beneficial to our physical and mental health. It is expected that more CUPL students will participate in such exercises integrating "health", "strength" and "beauty".
