In the afternoon of March 31, 2023, the launch event of the legal education and practice base jointly established by China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) and the No.1 Intermediate People's Court of Beijing Municipality (the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court) was held in the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court. Ma Huaide, President of CUPL, and Ma Qiang, President of the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court, attended the ceremony and jointly unveiled the legal education and practice base.

In his speech, President Ma Huaide extended his appreciation to the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court for its long-term support to CUPL. He hoped that the full implementation of the cooperation agreement would bring the advantages and functions of law schools and people's courts into full play. He also expected the cooperation would foster closer integration of legal theories and judicial practice and a deeper connection between legal education and the legal profession, strengthen legal practice-based teaching, advance collaborative education as well as bring legal education, legal theoretical research and judicial trial work to a new level.

President Ma Qiang introduced the history and jurisdiction of the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court and the categories and characteristics of cases under its concentrated jurisdiction, such as administrative and bankruptcy cases. He also expressed his gratitude to CUPL for training and providing excellent legal talent for the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court. He expected that both sides continue the good work momentum and seek innovations, and jointly contribute to the development of the rule of law. Both sides should also adopt a pragmatic and down-to-earth approach for the cultivation of legal talent, deepen exchanges, mutual learning and cooperation, work together with common goals toward the same direction, and build the legal education and practice base into a top-notch platform to train and attract high-caliber talent and lay the foundation for high-level achievements.

Chang Baoguo, Vice President of CUPL, and Ma Laike, CPC Party member and the Vice President of the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of each party respectively. The signing ceremony and the symposium were hosted by Ma Laike. According to the agreement, CUPL and the Beijing No.1 Intermediate Court will carry out in-depth joint researches, resource sharing and personnel training via the legal education and practice base in multiple forms such as personnel exchanges, lectures and joint researches.
