On November 21, the 22nd Traditional Health Care and Sports Online Competition for Beijing Institutions of Higher Education was successfully held. The competition was jointly sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Federation of University Sports of Beijing (FUSB), and organized by the Traditional Health Care and Sports Branch of FUSB. 249 martial art athletes from 28 colleges and universities in Beijing gathered online and demonstrated their skills in six sports to actively promote traditional Chinese martial art culture. The martial arts team of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) sent 12 athletes to participate in 12 games, two of whom won championships. Moreover, two finished as runners-up and four came in third place. Ultimately, CUPL's team was awarded second place in the 22nd Traditional Health Care and Sports Online Competition.
This competition was comprised of individual events. To be fully prepared, the CUPL martial arts team started training a month before the competition and the athletes trained for more than an hour every day. Observing the epidemic prevention protocol, Pang Haifan and Zhao Jiang, two coaches of the team, worked tirelessly to make detailed training plans for every member and to ensure their health. During the competition, the team leaders set good examples and all the members worked together. Thanks to their solid foundation, daily practice, as well as excellent performance, CUPL's martial art team achieved remarkable results.
It was the third time that CUPL martial art team participated in the event. All the members received strict training every day and they summarized their experience from each competition. These efforts were the cornerstone of the team’s improvement. There were another two reasons for such progress. Leaders at all levels of CUPL and the Physical Education Department all attached great importance to martial arts. And all the faculty members and students of CUPL supported the team. Win or lose, CUPL's martial arts team would continue to work hard and to strive for progress in the future!
