President Huang Jin Attends China-EU Education Ministers Conference and the Fourth China-CEEC Education Policy Dialogue

On October 11, 2016, President Huang Jin was invited to attend the China-EU Education Ministers Conference and the Fourth China-CEEC Education Policy Dialogue at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Education ministers, senior representatives, foreign diplomats and scholars from 34 European countries attended the opening ceremony.

During the conference, President Huang Jin had cordial talks with Mr. Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, EU Ambassador to China, Mr. Li Jianmin, Minister Counsellor and Head of Education and Culture Office of the Mission of China to the EU, Mrs. Katerina VALACHOVA, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Dana Prudikova, Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Mr. Bence Retvari, Deputy Minister and Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary, Mr. Lupeanu Adrian, Cultural Counsellor of Romanian Embassy in China and so on. President Huang Jin said that, our university saw EU countries as important partners in international exchange and cooperation. In recent years, exchange and cooperation between CUPL and EU countries have become more frequent than before, especially with those from Central and Eastern Europe. We have carried out the cooperation in diverse ways, such as through Confucius Institutes, cooperative education projects, joint training programs, staff exchange programs, academic forums, and short-term programs. Up to now, we have cooperated with universities in 21 out of the 28 EU Member States, including 6 out of the 16 Central and Eastern European countries, namely Romania, Poland, Czech, Hungary, Croatia and Slovenia. CUPL has been visited by many politicians of the EU, including Mr. Barroso, former President of the European Commission, Mrs. Vera Jourova, EU’s Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, and Mr. Pietro Grasso, President of the Italian Senate. Fifteen ambassadors of the EU and its member states to China have been invited to visit our school and gave lectures at the CUPL Ambassador Forum since 2006.

During the visit of foreign delegates in China, Vice-President Pro. Ma Huaide communicated with Bence Retvari, Deputy Minister and Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary and had an in-depth exchange of views on Hungarian culture, education, health and other issues. On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Pro. Ma came all the way to the airport for welcoming and seeing off the Hungarian delegation. Cecilia Szilas, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, Szilvia Szojka, Deputy Head of the Hungarian Embassy in China, and Szonja Buslig, Cultural Counsellor were present at the event.

Li Dandan, Director of Confucius Institute Office and other officials accompanied President Huang during the above events.
