On October 8 (local time), Sun Honggeng and Ma Weichao, two famous Chinese painters and members of the Chinese Artists Association, were invited to present their works in the Chinese painting exhibition in the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest (CI at UB), Romania. Over 200 people came to the exhibition, including Prof. Dong Jingbo, Chinese Co-Director of the CI at UB, Prof. Luminita Balan, Romanian Co-Director of the CI at UB, all the teachers and students of the CI at UB, other Chinese major students and other UB students, and some local residents who are fans of Chinese culture.

The exhibition consisted of over twenty works by the two painters on two themes, namely splash-ink landscape paintings and flowers and birds paintings. The two artists explained their paintings in detail for the students and local people. They were also invited to give a lecture on traditional Chinese paintings for the local people at the "Monthly Forum" organized by the CI at UB. Both the exhibition and the lecture were warmly welcomed and well received by the people.

During the activity, Prof. Dong Jingbo said that she hoped artists in China and Romania could carry out more diverse exchanges and cooperation in the future. Prof. Dong Jingbo also desired that the CI at UB could better facilitate exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Western cultures so that local Romanian people could know more distinctive Chinese art work.

During the visit, the two artists also sent paintings as gifts to the CI at UB, expressing the hope that the CI at UB would play a bigger role in the cultural exchanges between China and Romania.
