CI at Barbados Successfully Holds the First "Chinese Culture Week" at a Local Middle School

On the morning of June 24, 2016, the first “Chinese Culture Week” was successfully held by CI at UWI Cave Hill. The closing ceremony was held at the Hall of Queen’s College (QC). Dr. Marva Lashley, Vice-President of QC, Dr. Song Qingbao, Chinese President at CI, and Mr. François Jackman, Foreign President at CI, among some other 260 people including staff, students and their parents attended the closing ceremony.

The first “Chinese Culture Week” lasted two weeks, from June 13th to 24th. More than 270 people from 3 grades and 9 classes attended the event. During the event, students learned to speak daily Chinese expressions and got to know traditional Chinese culture. On the day of the closing ceremony, many excellent works by students were displayed, including paper-cuts, calligraphy, bookmarks of Peking opera, paper calabashes and blue and white porcelain. The students also took photos in front of the exhibitions. Meanwhile, they wished to have more opportunities to study the Chinese language and culture.
