On April 20, 2016, Prof. Ma Huaide attended the “The China-EU School of Law as a Bridge of Legal Dialogue” evening reception at the Hanse-Office in Brussels, Belgium. During the reception, Prof. Ma held friendly talks with Minister Zhang Lirong, Deputy Head of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, Jo Leinen, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Delegation for Relations with the People’s Republic of China and others. Prof. Ma also exchanged views with participants on China-EU bilateral dialogue, mechanism construction, the development of CUPL China-EU School of Law and other issues.
On the afternoon of April 21, Prof. Ma visited the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Jean-Michel De Walle, Vice President of ULB, and Feng Yuan, China Affairs Chief of ULB, gave a warm reception to the delegation, and said that China was one of the most popular destinations among their students and CUPL was one of their most important partners.
Prof. Ma expressed his pleasure in seeing the friendly cooperation between the two sides in the field of law at all levels and hoped to expand the scope of cooperation to political science, sociology, etc. Since more courses are taught in English in both universities, the two sides will be able to send more exchange students and visiting scholars. At the same time, CUPL will also send qualified students with competencies in French to study in ULB.
After the meeting, the two sides signed a student exchange agreement.
