On October 9, 2012, CUPL held the opening ceremony for Cheng Siwei Modern Finance Elite Class. 50 freshmen of the elite class appeared in a collective debut.
The Cheng Siwei Modern Finance Elite Class is named after Cheng Siwei, a renowned Chinese economist. This program is the product collaboration between CUPL and the School of Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). It is reported that this class is one of the major achievements under "The Serial Action Scheme for Talents' Cultivation by Scientific and Educational Teamwork", a program implemented by the Ministry of Education and UCAS. CUPL is the sole social science university participating in this Action Scheme. The training orientation, cultivation objectives, training plans and the syllabus for the class are jointly drafted by CUPL and the School of Management under UCAS. Therefore, it constitutes a specially-tailored curriculum system as well as cultivation scheme for modern economics and finance, which is in accordance with internationally-accepted practices.
