On the afternoon of September 6th, 2012, CUPL’s annual MBA opening ceremony was held at Beijing Yongtai Four Points Sheraton Hotel. CUPL Council Chairperson Shi Yajun, Vice-Chairperson Hu Ming, Professor Rick Robertson of Canada Ivey Business School, as well as leaders from large state-owned enterprises and multinational companies who will be appointed as MBA part-time professors, attended the ceremony. A total of over 500 professors, students and distinguished guests attended the ceremony.
Sun Xuanzhong, Dean of CUPL Business School and Director of the MBA Education Center, gave a keynote speech titled “Ushering in a New Era: Theories and Practices of Law and Business Management”.
Scholarships for 2012 MBA students were also awarded at the ceremony.
CUPL Council Chairperson Shi Yajun gave the final address of the event. He said that higher education in China has entered a new stage, where the management and operation systems, as well as curricula and methods of student cultivation will all emphasize contemporary trends in the development of higher education in international business. CUPL’s explorations have lead to its interdisciplinary emphasis on law and business in its MBA program, which has gradually won recognition from domestic and international universities. He was looking forward to the emergence of an organic curriculum which integrates a system for cultivating the spirit of the rule of law with a business management training system that fosters modern enterprise institutions. CUPL shall take full advantage of the corporate resources of its part-time professors and the educational experience it has accumulated in the past 60 years to build a new MBA system and model, and to propel its progress.
In addition, a flag presentation and an oath-taking ritual for all 2012 MBA students also took place during the meeting. After the end of the ceremony, a banquet and an evening party were held to mark this special occasion.
