In the afternoon of April, 20, the donation ceremony of “The Hon. Mr. Justice CHAN Grants” was held at the Changping Campus of CUPL. The Honourable Mr Justice Patrick Chan Siu-oi, Non-Permanent Judge of the Courtof Final Appeal, Hong Kong, Director of the Research Center for Hong Kong Laws, and special-term professor of CUPL, Chan’s wife, CUPL Council Chair Hu ming, Liu Dawei, Council Chair of the Law School, Xu Lan, Director of the Officefor Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs, Wu Biao, Director of the Domestic Operation Department, and Li Yan, Section Chief of the Talent Exchange Center of the Human Resources Department attended the ceremony. The ceremony was moderated by Xu Lan.
Council ChairHu mentioned that The Hon. Mr. Justice CHAN had made great contribution to CUPL’s legal education. He not only broadened students’ academic horizon, but also set an exemplar to CUPL’s teachers because of his diligent research attitude. Also, Council Chair Hu expressed heartfelt thanks toward The Hon. Mr. Justice CHAN for setting up grants to support outstanding students in CUPL. Chan Siu-oi responded that he cherished the relations with CUPL, and the teaching experience in CUPL fulfilled his aspirations. He also thanked CUPL for its high level of respect to curriculum freedom and said that he was greatly touched by the studying attitude of CUPL students.
