On December 14 and 15, the First Board Meeting of Mainland-Hong Kong-Macau Law Education Alliance and Seminar on Training Legal Talents in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred as “GBA”) was held in Shenzhen. More than 60 leaders, experts, scholars, and person in charge of relevant departments from the committee of basic laws of Hong Kong and Macau special administrative regions of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Office for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs of Ministry of Education, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region, Department of Education of Guangdong Province, China Legal Service (H.K.) LTD, Hong Kong Legal Education Fund, and 17 universities from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, attended the event. This event was sponsored by the secretariat of the Mainland-Hong Kong-Macau Law Education Allianceand organized by Shenzhen University.
At the opening ceremony, CUPL President Ma Huaide, on behalf of the secretariat of the Mainland-Hong Kong-Macau Law Education Alliance, first extended warm congratulations to the successful convening of the first board meeting of the alliance and extended sincere greetings to the guests present. He mentioned that since the foundation of the alliance, there had been frequent and in-depth communications and cooperation among members. Together, the members participated in the establishment and operation of the alliance, as well as in structuring new platforms and setting up new mechanisms. He hoped that all universities on the board could actively meet the national strategic demands by proposing ambitious strategies, establishing quality platforms and strengthening solid foundations. By making full use of the disciplinary knowledge and geographical advantage of the law subject through project cooperation, intercollegiate cooperation and regional cooperation, members should pay more attention to communication, connectivity and cooperation, thus forming a synergy among law schoolsin Guangdong Province, Hong Kong and Macau featuring effective interactions, contributing to the talents cultivation of GBA and to China’s legal education.
