The group included 3 academicians from France, Austria, and Macao, China, who participated in discussions with university leadership.

On behalf of the university, Jiang Zeting extended a warm welcome to the delegation and thanked the experts for their active participation in the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals. He provided an overview of CUPL’s role as China’s leading institution for legal education and the national center for political science and law education. Jiang proposed taking this visit as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with experts and their institutions in emerging fields such as foreign-related rule of law talent training, international commercial dispute resolution, and artificial intelligence. Such cooperation, he noted, would advance the development of high-quality talent, support a world-class business environment through robust legal frameworks, and enhance the quality of international and regional economic cooperation. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring AI development remains safe, reliable, manageable, and equitable.

During the discussion session, the experts shared their reflections on attending the 23rd Conference on International Exchange of Professionals in Shanghai and spoke highly of the event’s professional organization and support services. They reviewed their past cooperation with CUPL and put forward new ideas for future cooperation based on their own research and practice. Lyu Yong, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, provided a detailed overview of CUPL’s international exchange and cooperation initiatives and held substantive discussions with the experts regarding future cooperation plans.

The meeting was also attended by: Yang Xiuqing, Executive Dean of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School; Li Dandan, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office; Hou Jiaru, Director of the Institute of Environmental and Resources Law at Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School; Weng Wuyao, Director of the Fiscal, Tax and Financial Law Institute; and Song Bijun, Faculty Member of the School of Foreign Studies.

The same day also featured additional activities for the delegation: some experts delivered lectures and participated in academic salons at the university, while others visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China. The visit provided the international scholars with deeper insight into the Party’s history, governance philosophy, and its leading role in advancing China’s rule of law building, further deepening their understanding of the country and laying a more solid foundation for subsequent academic cooperation.
