On the morning of April 7, President Ma Huaide of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) met with Professor Sergey M. Shakhray, Dean of the Law School at Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) and former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, at CUPL Haidian campus.
President Ma Huaide warmly welcomed Prof. Shakhray on his return visit to CUPL. He provided a detailed introduction to the achievements CUPL has made in recent years in discipline development, academic research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He also commended Prof. Shakhray’s unremitting efforts and outstanding contributions to promoting legal exchanges and cultural dialogue between China and Russia.
Prof. Shakhray thanked President Ma for his warm reception. He highly praised CUPL for its remarkable contributions to China’s legal education and the nation’s rule of law development. He reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to promoting higher education exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia.
Following the meeting, on behalf of the university, President Ma presented Prof. Shakhray with two significant works: the Chinese edition of his monograph titled Fast, Fair, Merciful, and Equal Courts—Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Judicial Reforms in Russia (unofficial English translation), and the Russian edition of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China.
