From July 27 to 31, the 4th National University Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition was held at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. The team from the School of Criminal Justice at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), led by Prof. Liu Yifan, participated for the first time and advanced to the national finals, securing the First Prize in the Intermediate and Lower Group for New Liberal Arts. This marks a historic breakthrough for CUPL in the competition.

In the lead-up to the national finals, CUPL held an internal selection process and recommended four teachers and their teams to compete in the Beijing regional competition, where they achieved outstanding results: one First Prize, one Second Prize, and two Third Prizes. Additionally, CUPL received the Excellent Organization Award. Prof. Liu Yifan’s team was then recommended to advance to the national stage. The success in both the Beijing regional competition and the national finals was made possible through the joint efforts of the participating teachers and their teams, the Academic Affairs Office, various teaching units, and the Office of Cybersecurity and Information.

This competition was guided by the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and organized by the China Association of Higher Education under the theme “Promoting Teaching Innovation and Cultivating First-Class Talent”. The competition featured seven categories: New Engineering, New Medicine, New Agriculture, New Liberal Arts, Basic Courses, Curriculum Ideology and Politics, and Industry-Education Integration. After fierce competition among 104,686 teachers from 1,249 universities across 32 regional divisions, 1,779 teachers and teams representing 483 courses advanced to the national finals. Ultimately, 73 First Prizes, 170 Second Prizes and 240 Third Prizes were awarded nationwide.
