On September 29, the ceremony for the conferral the national medals and honorary titles of the People’s Republic of China took place in the Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission (CMC), presented medals and honorary titles to the recipients and delivered an important speech.
At 10 a.m., the awarding ceremony officially began. General Secretary Xi Jinping personally presented medals to each recipient, offering congratulations and shaking hands with them, which drew rounds of enthusiastic applause from the audience.
General Secretary Xi Jinping awarded Professor Zhang Jinfan the national honorary title of “People’s Educator”, with a formal recognition of his contributions: “Zhang Jinfan, a people’s educator, is a key founder of the discipline of China’s legal history for the PRC. His research has laid the theoretical foundation and structural framework for the discipline, making significant contributions to legal education and talent cultivation in China.”
Around 9 a.m., teachers and students of CUPL actively watched the awarding ceremony through various means, with live broadcasts also held in the auditoriums of both campuses. Throughout the hour-long live broadcast, teachers and students attentively listened to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech, absorbing the profound spirit of selflessness exhibited by the medal and title recipients who have aligned their personal aspirations with the cause of the Party and the nation. The great era calls for heroes and creates heroes. As heroes emerge from generation to generation, the Party and the cause of the people will prosper.
Through this experience, teachers and students deeply resonated with the deeds and contributions of the honorees, and the embodiment of the Chinese nation spirit and core socialist values in them. Everyone unanimously expressed their resolve to follow the example of these national heroes, especially Professor Zhang Jinfan, to achieve extraordinary accomplishments in their ordinary roles.
