Minister in Charge of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation of the Central African Republic, Prof. Jean Laurent Syssa-Magale, Visits CUPL

On the morning of September 7, 2024, Prof. Jean Laurent Syssa-Magale, Minister in Charge of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation of the Central African Republic visited the Haidian Campus of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). Minister Syssa-Magale was in China to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). CUPL President Ma Huaide, Vice President Lu Chunlong, and representatives from several departments and faculties attended the meeting.

President Ma Huaide extended a warm welcome to Minister Syssa-Magale on behalf of CUPL. During his remarks, President Ma provided an overview of the university’s history, academic development, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and international cooperation . He highlighted CUPL's strong focus on cultivating talent in international law and emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering exchanges and collaboration with African nations, particularly in education and research. CUPL aims to support the objectives of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) by strengthening ties with the Central African Republic in areas such as humanities and social sciences, research partnerships, and cultural exchanges. President Ma further emphasized CUPL’s efforts to explore education cooperation models tailored to the specific needs and contexts of both China and Africa, contributing to the shared development of education between the two regions.

Prof. Jean Laurent Syssa-Magale expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from CUPL. He provided an overview of the current situation in the Central African Republic, particularly in the field of education. He stressed the importance of deepening future cooperation between the two countries, especially in education and technology. Syssa-Magale underscored the need to digitalize higher education, expand mutual exchanges, and foster multi-level collaborations to promote shared growth and development.

Following the remarks, representatives from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of topics, including the establishment of judicial education and training institutions, bar exams, and the development of online education systems in both countries.
