Its Chinese name Li Ge was transliterated from the English word "legal" implying building rules, specifications, systems, and standards. Subsequently, Gansu Institute of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Shandong University of Political Science and Law, Henan University of Economics and Law, and Xinjiang University of Political Science and Law joined the alliance. It has since become a nationally influential forum for legal studies and a prominent platform for exchanges in legal education.
