Pragmatic Collaborative Exchange: Judge Theodora Markopoulou from the Greek Supreme Administrative Court Visits CUPL

On the morning of October 24, Lu Chunlong, Vice President of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), welcomed Judge Theodora Markopoulou and her delegation from the Greek Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) at the Haidian Campus. The meeting, hosted by Li Juqian, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, saw the participation of Yuan anqiao, Assistant Judge of the Supreme People's Court.

On behalf of CUPL, Lu Chunlong extended a warm welcome to Judge Theodora Markopoulou and her delegation for their visit to CUPL and recalled the pleasant experience of having received the visiting scholar from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He then briefed on CUPL, including its history, disciplines, academic research, talent cultivation as well as international cooperation, especially the cooperation with Greek universities. He said that CUPL is the premier base of academic and cultural exchanges in legal education in China, and Judge Markopoulou’s visit also exemplified the immense significance attached to CUPL for its international exchanges. Lu expressed the hope that this meeting would catalyze the reactivation of practical cooperation between CUPL and Greek universities, fostering increased academic exchange between the two nations.

In response, Judge Markopoulou thanked CUPL for its hospitality. She presented an overview of the legal talent cultivation in Greek higher education, with a specific focus on the career development plans for Greek judges. Judge Markopoulou expressed her willingness to facilitate collaboration between Chinese and Greek universities in the field of law. She showed keen interest in CUPL's legal talent cultivation model and engaged in in-depth discussions on specific aspects, including professional directions, program design, and career planning.

Li Juqian responded to inquiries about CUPL's student scale, internationalized talent cultivation model, and achievements. He particularly highlighted the outstanding performance of CUPL students in international moot court competitions. Zhang Li, Vice Dean of the School of Law, introduced the curriculum and career planning for law students, outlining the comprehensive talent cultivation path from law students to Chinese judges. Tang Yan, Vice Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, CUPL, provided insights into the channels and distinctive features of international academic exchange programs available to CUPL students.

Subsequently, Judge Markopoulou engaged in discussions with representatives from the School of Law, CUPL, focusing on legal studies and administrative law practices.
