Historic Unveiling: CUPL's Main Teaching Building at Haidian Campus Recognized as a Historic Landmark

On the morning of June 28, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) held the official unveiling ceremony for the historic designation of the main (old) teaching building at the Haidian campus. Council Chair Hu Ming, President Ma Huaide, Vice PresidentLi Shuangchen, along with representatives from various schools and administrative offices of CUPL attended the unveiling ceremony.

During the ceremony, Vice President Li Shuangchen provided insights into the historical background of the main teaching building, detailing its inclusion in Beijing's historic building registry and outlining CUPL’s plans and progress for the renovation of historical buildings in the upcoming phases. He stated the significance of preserving these historical structures for the continuity of the university's cultural legacy, improvement of educational facilities, and enhancement of overall well-being for students and faculty.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, President Ma Huaide underscored the school's commitment to the "restore the old as the old" principle and the importance of proper historical building preservation. He announced the initiation of reinforcement and renovation for the main teaching building, aiming to comprehensively enhance the university’s environment.

Council Chair Hu Ming stated in his speech the university’s dedication to continue the declaration of historic buildings, aiming for a total of "1+3" historic buildings. He stressed the acceleration of the declaration process for two additional dormitory buildings, intending to create a distinctive cluster of historic buildings at the Haidian campus, contributing to the development of a beautiful and refined campus.

The main teaching building at the Haidian campus is currently undergoing design work for reinforcement and renovation, and the Infrastructure Department affirmed their commitment to expediting the process. The CUPL community eagerly anticipates the main teaching building's reemergence with a renewed facade in the near future.
