The CHINA ILOSMCC is the world’s first moot court competition of international law of the sea with English as its official language. It consisted of simulated trial procedures of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS). The judges for the competition were ITLOS judges, senior officials of relevant ministries and commissions under the State Council of the PRC, as well as renowned experts and scholars from both home and abroad. On the one hand, the competition helped to further shift the attention of university and college students at home and abroad to disputes over territories as well as maritime rights and interests. On the other hand, it is of great significance to promote the spread of the knowledge on the law of the sea, facilitate the selection of dispute settlement talents in this field, as well as empower CUPL’s cultivation of the law of the sea talents and foreign-related legal talents.
