Ministry of Education Approves Three Virtual Teaching and Research Offices from CUPL as First-Batch Pilots

Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education announced the list of the first batch of virtual teaching and research offices pilots. The virtual teaching and research offices of evidence science, Chinese civil law, and political science recommended by China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) have all been approved as pilots in the first batch.

The virtual teaching and research office of evidence science is headed by Prof. Zhang Baosheng. There are 40 teachers from 29 colleges and universities on the team. The virtual teaching and research office was established on the basis of the physical teaching and research offices of institute of evidence law study, forensic science and physical evidence technology from CUPL and 3 courses of evidence law, forensic science, and physical evidence technology. The focus of the virtual office is on major theoretical issues of evidence science and practical demands derived from the advancement of the rule of law. The goals of the virtual office are to strengthen the interdisciplinary studies of evidence science, to empower the teaching and research team, and deepen the reform of curriculum and testing.

The virtual teaching and research office of Chinese civil law is headed by Prof. Li Yongjun. There are 30 teachers from multiple colleges and universities specializing in civil law in the team. The virtual teaching and research office is established on the basis of the Institute of Civil Law, CUPL. Through collaboration with many universities, scientific research institutions and practitioners, the virtual teaching and research office applies modern information technology to establish a mixed online and offline teaching and research model. The goals of the virtual office are to build itself into a world-class teaching and research institution and to promote the coordinated development of legal education in the east and west region.

The virtual teaching and research office of political science is headed by Prof. Zhang Yang. There are 15 teachers from several colleges and universities in the team. The virtual teaching and research office is established on the basis of the political science and administration disciplines and the course on the principles of political science of CUPL. Committed to promoting the integration of ideological and political elements into the curriculum, the virtual teaching and research office spare no efforts in innovating teaching pattern, exploring practical approaches for teaching reform, and actively advocating students to be self-motivated in study. The goal is to build a sharing and collaborative teaching and research mechanism.

The ministry of education has prioritized the fundamental task of cultivating moral integrity for the pilot program. The core is to improve the ability of talent cultivation. Specific tasks for the pilots include: exploring new-types of teaching institutes, guiding teachers to be devoted to, passionate about, and dedicated to teaching, as well as providing a strong support for high-quality development of higher education.

Going forward, taking the pilot virtual teaching and research offices as an opportunity, CUPL will continue to explore the standard, approaches and operation modes of new-type teaching institutes in the “smart +” era. In this way, we hope to deliver more theoretical and practical achievements in teaching, create a community of shared future for all faculty and nurture a quality-centered teaching culture, thus comprehensively improve teachers’ teaching ability.
