On December 2, the 7th meeting of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutions Consortium was successfully held in Beijing. Liu Limin, Chairman of China Education Association for International Exchange, Secretary-General Wang Yongli, Fang Jun, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education, Xia Xiaoxi, Counsellor of the Secretariat of Cooperation between China and CEEC, Tomsik Vladimir, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the People’s Republic of China, and John Chrysoulakis, Secretary-General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the event and delivered speeches. Nearly 500 people attended the conference online and offline, including representatives from Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Xi’an Jiaotong University as well as some universities in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

Under the theme “Promoting the Sustainable Development of Education Cooperation between China and Central & Eastern European Countries”, the conference aimed to implement the 2021 List of Activities in Beijing for the Cooperation between China and Central Eastern European Countries, jointly formulated by the leaders of China and CEE countries in February this year. It also aimed to respond to the “Make the Consortium Larger and Stronger Initiative” put forward at the 8th Education Policy Dialogue Between China and CEEC in October. To carry out the latter initiative, promote resource sharing, and give full play to the key disciplines of universities, the consortium decided to build global communities of ten disciplines, including law, economics, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, agriculture, life sciences, and applied technology. China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) became the Chinese leader of the global community of law. At the launch ceremony of the global communities of ten disciplines, Liu Limin granted a certificate to CUPL. Vice President Shi Jianzhong attended the event and accepted the certificate on behalf of CUPL. As the representative of the lead universities, Shi delivered a speech. He said that, under the guidance of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutions Consortium, CUPL was willing to work with partner universities to build the global community of law, share high-quality resources for legal education, and provide a high-level platform for the development of law discipline, scientific research in law as well as students cultivation. CUPL would make new contributions to the cooperation in legal education and cultural exchanges between China and CEE countries.

Lv Yong, Deputy Director of CUPL Office of International Cooperation and Exchange also attended the event.
