On May 30, the Launching Ceremony of Research Base for Fundamental Procuratorial Theory of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) and the Symposium on Deepening Procuratorial Theory Research in the New Era were held in Beijing. Over 30 experts and scholars from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China and CUPL attended the event.
At the ceremony, CUPL President Ma Huaide expressed heartfelt thanks, on behalf of CUPL, to the SPP for its long-term care and support as well as trust in CUPL. He also expressed a warm welcome to all the officials and experts present. He pointed out that the establishment of the research base broke the institutional barriers between universities and society, so that the procuratorial authority could better engage in the cultivation of legal talents, and exchanges among legal educators, researchers and practitioners would be effectively strengthened. He also hoped that the research base would promote relevant research in the fundamental procuratorial theory to better facilitate procuratorial practices. Wan Chun, vice ministerial-level member of the SPP Procuratorate Committee, stressed the need to clarify the functions of the research base as a think tank with strong influences and build it into an important platform for theoretical research, academic exchanges, and talent cultivation. At last, Xiong Qiuhong, Director of the research base, briefed the participants on the work agenda of the research base.
