The International Symposium on Evidence Science and Book Launch Held at CUPL

May 20 marked the 15th anniversary of the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science (IEFLS) of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). As an important event of the celebration, the International Symposium on Evidence Science, co-organized by IEFLS, the Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, China Renmin University Press, and the Evidence Science, as well as the book launch for A Philosophy of Evidence Law–Justice in the Search for Truth, ENFSI Guideline for Evaluative Reporting in Forensic Science, and Evidence Science Translation Series (11-volume set) were held at the CUPL Institute of Forensic Medicine & Science.

On behalf of CUPL, President Ma Huaide extended warm congratulations to the convening of the symposium and the 15th anniversary of IEFLS. He reviewed in detail the achievements of IEFLS in the past fifteen years, and emphasized that the publication of the Evidence Science Translation Series would play an important role in strengthening academic and intellectual exchanges in the field of evidence science and in promoting the development of the discipline of evidence science. He also wished the conference a great success.

Xu Qingsen, Director General of the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, delivered a congratulatory speech for the 15th anniversary of IEFLS. He pointed out that over the past 15 years, IEFLS, featuring interdisciplinary researches in liberal arts and sciences, had made brilliant achievements in theoretical researches, talent cultivation and social services in evidence science.

Prof. Zhang Baosheng, Honorary Director of IEFLS and Director of the Key Laboratory of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, Ministry of Education, delivered a speech on “Messages from the two new books of the Evidence Science Translation Series” and introduced these two books to other participants.

The symposium consisted of an interaction session for authors and translators, a book launch, and a session for Chinese translators. Participating experts and scholars had a wide and in-depth exchange on the general theory and methodology of evidence science, the philosophical basis of evidence law, statistics in court science, court science research, methods for assessing forensic reports, and the Evidence Science Translation Series (11-volume set).
