The International Criminal Court is the first intergovernmental organization and international criminal tribunal that preforms an important role of combating international crimes and building a universal international criminal legal system. The Chinese government is a consistent supporter in combating crimes that seriously damaged common interest of the human society while attaching great importance to the works of the International Criminal Court. In order to train specialized talents in international criminal law and to improve student’s performance of court debate using international language, upon the agreement of the International Criminal Court after negotiation with CUPL, selection matches (China Mainland Region) of ICCMCC are held once a year in March at CUPL. This selection match is the sole annual competition in English sponsored by CUPL and the winner will join the international competition aboard. The competition not only provides legal talents from famous universities in China with an arena for competition, but also strengthens the university’s training of international talents, as well as establishes CUPL’s reputation both domestically & aboard and facilitates the construction of “World-class Universities and Disciplines”.
