Chinese Culture Night Sparkles in Bangor

On the evening of October 7, 2017 (local time), the 2017 Mid-Autumn Festival gala was held in Bangor University. The gala was staged jointly by the Confucius Institute at the Bangor University (CI at Bangor) and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA). On that day, guests included Derek Hainge, Mayor of Bangor, faculty and students from the five newly-established Confucius Classrooms, friends from all walks of life in the North Wales, local Chinese, as well as overseas students and visiting scholars. Over 400 participants joined the gala.

At the party, ethnic dancing and pipa (a plucked string instrument with a fretted fingerboard) show performed by volunteer Chinese teachers of the CI brought the sense of oriental beauty to the audience and won bursts of applause. The chorus sang by all performers brought the gala to a climax.

The success of this gala was not possible without the sincere cooperation between the CI at Bangor and CSSA. Such extensive cooperation will open new areas for the promotion of Chinese language in the future.
