On November 18th, the Confucius Institute at Bangor University (CI at BU) held the preparatory meeting for setting up five Confucius classrooms. Principals from Holyhead High School, Friars School, Hiraddug School and Our Lady's RC Primary School, and staff from the Confucius Classroom Project of the CI at BU gathered together to discuss the development plan of the Confucius Classrooms.
At the meeting, the two Deans of the CI at BU introduced the CI and the Confucius Classroom Project in detail. They also presented the development plan for the CI. In addition, all participators discussed heatedly the upcoming launching ceremony, future teaching arrangements, cultural activities and international cooperation opportunities of the five Confucius Classrooms in 2017.
After the meeting, the Principals visited the distinctive Double Dragon Cabinet in the CI and enjoyed lunch in the lounge. They also participated in the Chinese Culture Club with its theme on traditional Chinese instruments. They even tried playing the instruments themselves and showed keen interest in traditional Chinese culture.
The participators not only drafted a blueprint for the future development of the Confucius Classroom Project, but also established a network of Confucius Classrooms in North Wales with the center in the CI at BU. Furthermore, they laid a solid foundation for further cultural exchange between China and the United Kingdom.
