On November 9th, the United States Embassy in China hosted the 2016 United States Presidential Election Reception. Chinese scholars, experts, media, and diplomats from several foreign embassies were invited to watch the live broadcast of the US presidential election and to learn about the U.S. presidential election. Yangqi, an undergraduate student from the Criminal Justice College of CUPL, was also invited to the Reception.

As one of the activities held during the Reception, the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in China organized “A letter to the Next US President” Writing Competition. CUPL student Yangqi participated in the competition and proposed many constructive suggestions in her article. She proposed that “China and the U.S. should strengthen cooperation in space and actively develop bilateral relations”. After expert reviews, Yangqi’s article won first prize of this competition. In addition, Yang was the only winner who was invited to the Reception. The U.S. Ambassador to China, Max Baucus, attended the Reception and delivered a speech. Also, the Ambassador invited Yang to take a picture with him.
