From 23 to 24 November, a symposium on “Laws in the Process of Social Transformation” was jointly held by the Faculty of Law at the University of Bucharest (UB),Romania, the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest (CI at UB) and the Law School of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). As the first of its kind co-sponsored by Romanian and Chinese law circles, this symposium was attended by over twenty notable jurists from the host country and China, as well as teachers and students from the UB Faculty of Law.
Attendees delivered academic reports on a variety of topics like the theory of governance by law, theoretical and practical matters of legal profession, and legal education concerning countries and regions such as China, Romania,Central and Eastern Europe,as well as the European Union. They also had in-depth discussions on questions of common interest.
This meeting is a part of a series of Sino-Romanian High-End Academic Forums sponsored by CI at UB annually. During their 65 years of good diplomatic relations, China and Romania have joined hands to establish and cement closer ties in such areas as politics, economy, culture and education. This is the first time jurists from the two countries have worked together to organize and attend an academic forum on law studies. They all expressed a common hope that these kinds of bilateral academic exchanges could be expanded and furthered in the future.
