On the afternoon of November 6, 2015, at Xueyuanlu Campus, CUPL Vice-President Prof. Ma Huaide met with Prof. Guy Lefebvre, Vice-Rector of University of Montréal (UdeM).

Prof. Ma expressed his warm welcome to Prof. Guy Lefebvre on behalf of our university for his second visit to CUPL. Prof. Ma indicated that CUPL was deeply impressed by UdeM accomplishments in multiple areas like its upper placement in various authoritative University rankings in the world, the high quality of its talent training programs, the high level of its academic research and its large number of enrolled students. Our university has great pleasure to develop and expand cooperation with UdeM. Prof. Ma recalled the friendly bilateral collaboration between the two universities with delight and mentioned that the continuing teamwork between CUPL and UdeM dates back to the early days of 2000. At present, in addition to the Sino-Canadian Law Research Centre jointly established and operated by the two partners, they have carried out teacher and student exchanges of various types, on different levels and in diversified forms.

Prof. Guy Lefebvre expressed his happiness to visit CUPL for the second time. He especially pointed out that it was a firm belief held by him and by Prof. Guy Breton, Rector of UdeM, that CUPL was the most important strategic cooperation partner in China and even in the whole world. He hoped that the two sides would explore new dimensions of cooperation in the coming days.

Afterwards, the two sides held in-depth talks on questions of common interest such as: creating a Chair Professorship for CUPL faculty members to teach laws of China at UdeM, exploring the possibility of jointly running cultivation programs for their master and doctorial candidates in the field of jurisprudence, inviting CUPL to participate in the preparations of the planned UdeM African Research Centre, and jointly setting up a Confucius Institute in UdeM. In addition, the two sides also thoroughly discussed the feasibility of UdeM joining hands with CUPL, Peking University, the Université libre de Bruxelles and Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées to launch a degree project for law practitioners.

After the meeting, Prof. Guy Lefebvre held face-to-face talk with CUPL students. He patiently answered questions related to the applications for 2016/2017 LL.M. Program of UdeM, and interviewed some of our applicants on campus.
