A Bundle of New CSC International Exchange Programs Opened for CUPL Ace Undergraduates

Recently, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) announced the annual funding list of International Exchange Programs for Outstanding Undergraduate Students. It was announced that CUPL acquired 10 more approved programs with a total of 24 new vacancies available for our students. In terms of the number of approved programs and the number of students sponsored by CSC, CUPL became one of the top universities and colleges of liberal arts in China. This represents a landmark achievement of our university in cultivating internationalized undergraduates. Our exchange students are accepted by foreign colleges, universities and internship units in 16 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia, covering a vast majority of undergraduate majors offered by CUPL.

Last year, CUPL received approval from 13 International Exchange Programs for 2014 and beyond for its straight-A undergraduates. However, due to certain requirements such as foreign language proficiency, the number of students from CUPL actually studying abroad in 2014 was fewer than the approved figures, resulting in our 2015 extended programs being reduced from 71 to 60. This year, our Dean’s Office will strengthen its selection procedure to encourage candidates to take such international proficiency exams as IELTS and TOEFL. By doing that, more of our students will satisfy the requirements for international exchanges and qualify for CSC funding.

Acquiring CSC-approved exchange programs is not only beneficial for the overall promotion of the systematic construction of undergraduates’ international exchange and studies, but also important to assure the continuation of its high quality and large scale yearly operation.
