On the afternoon of December 2, 2014, H.E.Mr.Tadeusz Chomicki, the Polish Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary to China visited CUPL, attended its “Forum of Ambassadors”, and delivered a speech.
President Prof. Huang Jin extended his warm welcome to the Ambassador on behalf of CUPL. President Huang briefed the guest on our predominant disciplines and friendly cooperation with Eastern European countries and regions, especially those with the University of Warsaw and Jagiellonian University in Poland.
Mr.Chomicki expressed great pleasure to be a guest on our campus. This year marks the 65thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Poland. The Sino-Polish relationship enjoys great development and frequent contact in various fields like politics, economic & trade ties, culture, etc. More and more Polish people begin to learn Chinese and choose to further their studies in China. Meanwhile, a growing number of teaching & learning centers for Polish language and culture have also been established in China. According to the latest statistics, nearly 650 Chinese students were studying in Poland in 2013-2014 Academic Year, and the number is predicted to jump to around 750 in the next Academic Year. Currently, the group of Chinese students is the largest among Asian students enrolled in Polish universities and colleges.
During the meeting, President Huang expressed his three wishes to the guest: to hammer out deals and conduct exchanges with more Polish universities and colleges, to attract more Polish students to study in CUPL, to further strengthen the mutual understanding between the peoples of two countries as well as in the fields of education and culture.
After the talk, Mr.Chomicki delivered a speech on “China-Poland Relations: Reality and Prospects for the Future”, which was hosted by Prof. Zhang Li Ying, Dean of our College of International Studies (CIS). The ambassador also exchanged ideas with the representatives of our teachers and students regarding their concerns.
Before leaving, Mr.Chomicki wrote the following lines in our guestbook: “Let us all work together for better understanding, for mutual knowledge as means of closer cooperation between Poland and China!”
