On May 13, 2014, at Xueyuan Lu Campus, Vice President Zhang Guilin met with Professor Hildegard Schneider, the Dean and Chair of the Faculty of Law at Maastricht University (UM) of the Netherlands, Michael Faure, a Professor of the foregoing UM and Erasmus University Rotterdam(EUR), also a Distinguished Foreign Scholar specially-engaged by the Ministry of Education, as well as Associate Professor Stefan Weishaar from University of Groningen of the Netherlands.
Zhang Guilin extended a warm welcome to Professor Hildegard Schneider and his companion upon their visit. She first introduced CUPL's current situation to our guests, including current work,such as cultivating talent,academic research, international exchanges, social works, and so on. After that, she expressed her gratitude to Professor Michael Faure for his contribution in promoting the development of the subject of Law & Economics in CUPL, and in boosting the exchanges and cooperation between UM, EUR and CUPL. Zhang also hoped that our university could expand on the scope of the existing cooperation and communication with UM, EUR and University of Groningen initiating cooperation in even more areas.
Hildegard Schneider thanked Zhang Guilin for the warm reception they received during their visit. She said she felt honored to have the chance to visit CUPL and to attend the academic activities organized by the Center for Law & Economics of CUPL. She mentioned that the Faculty of Law at UM and CUPL have established and maintained an excellent academic partnership. She highly values the opportunity of working with CUPL, and hoped there would be more chances to collaborate with us in the future. Professor Michael Faure indicated that he was very glad to be engaged as a Distinguished Foreign Scholar on our campus, and he would be pleased to further the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. Associate Professor Stefan Weishaar remarked that, as a scholar dispatched by University of Groningen, it had been a pleasure to have the chance to engage in collaborative research with CUPL's scholars on subjects of shared interest.
Later on, there was a discussion on the internationalization of students-training scheme between Zhang Guilin and her Dutch counterparts, focusing on matters concerning undergraduates’ international exchange.
