On May 4, 2014, the award ceremony for the Seventh “Top Ten National Outstanding Youth Jurists” was held in Beijing, and 10 young legal professionals were awarded the Honorary title. CUPL professor Wang Wanhua was among the recipients.
Starting from April 2013, this round of public appraisal went through a string of initial evaluations, a publication of candidates, an ensuing appraisal committee’s discussion and selection, and consideration and decision conducted by the president's meeting of the Law Society of China. Ultimately, 10 winners of “Top Ten National Outstanding Youth Jurists” and 20 winners of the Nomination Prize for that Title emerged at the end of the process.
The recipients of that Honorary Title were Wang Wanhua, a professor of CUPL, Shi Jingxia, Dean of the School of Law at University of International Business and Economics, and Shen Weixing, Vice Dean of the School of Law at Tsinghua University, Feng Guo, Vice Dean of the School of Law at Wuhan University, Liu Yanhong, Dean of the School of Law at Southeast University, Qi Yanping, Dean of the Law School of Shandong University, and Xiao Jianguo, a professor of Renmin university of China, Zhang Sheng, Dean of the Law School of Beijing Jiaotong University, Luo Peixin, Dean of the International Financial Law School at East China University of Political Science and Law, and Yu Zhengping, the Vice Director of the Tribunal for Judicial Supervision at the Supreme People's Court.
The Award of “Top Ten National Outstanding Youth Jurists” is the highest Honor bestowed upon China’s young jurists and in China’s legal circles. A total of 70 youth jurists have been awarded the title since 1995.
