Delegation from Monash University, Australia Visits CUPL

On the afternoon of March 28, 2014, at Xueyuan Lu Campus, Vice President Zhu Yong met with Prof. Richard Krever, Head of the Department of Business Law and Taxation under the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University (Monash), one of the eight elite schools in Australia, as well as with Mrs. Zhu Jiuhua, and their party.

Zhu Yong stated that Monash University was a world-renowned institution of higher learning, and CUPL would like to develop an active cooperation with Monash, to improve its level of internationalized administration and the competitiveness of their graduate employment respectively. Therefore, Zhu Yong expressed the hope that the two universities could establish a formal partnership in the near future, and initiate specific cooperation under the agreement's framework. For projects, such as “3.5+1.5 Law & Business double bachelor degree” and “1+1 Law & Business double master degree”, proposed by Krever, Zhu Yong emphasized that the two parties, within the scope of the respective national policies, to start from a solid foundation for the agreement before building on this and extending the scope of cooperation in the light of successes and experience gained.

Krever mentioned that Monash had focused on carrying out dual degree cooperative programs with top-notch universities around the world in recent years, and attached great importance to the proposed collaboration with CUPL. This was not only the first time Monash has explored the possibility of cooperation on these projects with a university in the Beijing area, but also the first time it has been discussed with an institute of political science and law in China.

Afterwards, the two sides conducted in-depth talks on the details for cooperation regarding the aforementioned dual degree programs.

That night, Krever delivered a speech titled “the Latest Developments of the Chinese and Foreign Tax Treaties and the Anti-Tax Avoidance System” for our teachers and students. This lecture was hosted by Prof. Shi Zhengwen.
