The "Monthly Forum" organized by the Confucius Institute at University of Bucharest (UB) has became a centre of attention for the Romanian teachers and students and has been well received by them this year. On the evening of March 17, a special lecture titled “Contemporary Chinese Women” was held by the Confucius Institute. Prof. Xue Xiaojian, Chinese Co-Director of that Institute, was the speaker; with Prof. Bai Luomi, foreign Co-Director of the Institute, serving as the simultaneous interpreter. More than 50 people packed into the large classroom of the Confucius Institute to attend the lecture.
Before the end of the lecture, the chef at the local Palace Hotel, popular with many Romanians, was invited by the Confucius Institute to perform Chinese culinary art for the audience. He cooked the famous Chinese dish “Kung Pao Chicken”. The result not only looked appetizing and tasted great but also garnered praise from everyone that sampled it.
After the lecture concluded, many members of the audience remained in the lecture hall to discuss issues of common interest with the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute, such as woman’s' issues, family, and children’s education in the two countries.
