CUPL Establishes Intercollegiate Cooperation with Ohio State University

On the morning of 9 July, 2013, at Xueyuan Lu Campus, Vice President Zhu Yong met with Mr. William Brustein, Vice President of International Affairs and Global Strategy of Ohio State University (OSU), and Ms. You Chao, Chief Representative of OSU Liaison Office in China.

During the day CUPL and OSU signed a memorandum of understanding on the basis of the existing cooperation concerning legal education. During the meeting Zhu Yong stated that he looked forward to cooperation under the agreement and that the two sides should begin conducting further collaboration in certain disciplines such as political science, public administration, humanities and so on. The areas of cooperation include exchange visits of teachers and joint cultivation of doctoral candidates, etc. Mr. William Brustein noted that last year both parties first initiated their collaboration in the field of legal education and the two partners have cooperated smoothly on students training and other various aspects ever since. As a professor of political science, Mr. William Brustein agreed with Zhu Yong’s suggestion and stated he would vigorously support efforts to improve how the two sides to work together in Jurisprudence and other disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. Meanwhile, the hosts and visitors also exchanged views and reached an agreement on issues such as the choice of which language to teach in and other cooperative details.

Afterwards, on behalf of the two universities, Vice President Zhu Yong and Mr. William Brustein jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing a Strategic Cooperative Partnership, which marks the formal establishment of the intercollegiate cooperation between the two sides.
