On October 26 and 27, 2012, CUPL hosted the first "Legal League" of the Graduate School Deans' Joint Conference. The event was sponsored by mainland Chinese universities of political science and law as well as the Seminar on the Reform of Cultivation Mechanism for Law Major Graduates. Officials from various governmental branches such as the Academic Degree Commission under the State Council, the Ministry of Justice, and graduate school leaders affiliated with the "Legal League" attended the meeting. CUPL Council Chairperson Shi Yajun, CUPL Vice President Zhu Yong, Deans of other relevant CUPL schools, and representatives of graduate supervisors also attended the conference.
At the meeting, heated discussions focused on two broad themes: deepening reform of the cultivation mechanism for graduates in legal fields and improving the quality of cultivation of law graduates. By the end of the meeting, graduate school deans of the "Legal League" signed a memorandum of understanding, and agreed to establish an institution called the "Legal League". The conference will be hosted by each member in turn. The aim of the conference is to promote the reform in legal education, as well as to improve the quality of cultivation of law graduates.
