The finals of the 16th “FLTRP AMAZON Cup” National English Debate Competition (North China Division) was held in Beijing June 8-10, 2012. Delegations from 87 universities and colleges in Northern China, Inner Mongolia and other regions in Mainland China participated. After three-day round robin matches, the CUPL delegation won second prize and was awarded the Annual Outstanding Team Work Award.
The “FLTRP AMAZON Cup” National English Debate Competition started in 1997 and has become the most important English debate competition in China. This year’s participation number established a new record. This year’s competition followed the debating rules of British Parliament (BP Debate), creating yet greater challenges for debaters’ skills in critical thinking and English.
