Since June 2011, at the invitation of WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab, CUPL Professor Li Juqian has served as a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Space Security Council. Since this appointment, Professor Li has participated in a series of activities including: in October 2011, attending the three-day Global Agenda Council Conference on Space Security Issues in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; participating in WEF video conferences in 2011 and 2012; and, in May 2012, participating in the discussion and drafting surrounding the Space Security Council’s annual report.
The World Economic Forum was founded in 1971 by the renowned economist Professor Klaus Schwab. The World Economic Forum convenes international public figures in politics, business, nongovernmental, and social groups to discuss world economic problems. The Space Security Council has 16 council members from around the world. Professor Li Juqian is the only council member from China.
