On the morning of May 16, 2012, a special meeting was convened in the Assembly Hall at CUPL’s Changping (undergraduate) Campus to commemorate the 60th anniversary of CUPL’s founding. Attendees included: Wu Bangguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairperson of the 11th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Liu Yandong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Council; and, Li Jianguo, Vice Chairperson of the 11th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. Other dignitaries sent greetings for this special occasion. Zhou Tienong, Vice Chairperson of the 11th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Wang Shengjun, President of the Supreme People’s Court; Cao Jianming, Procurator-general of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate; Cheng Siwei, Vice Chairperson of the 9th and 10th Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; and, Luo Haocai, Vice Chairperson of the 9th Chinese Political Consultative Conference also were in attendance.

At the meeting’s conclusion, CUPL President Huang Jin, Vice President Zhang Guilin, Dean of CUPL Business School Sun Xuanzhong, and Vice President Ma Huaide signed the following four agreements: the cooperative framework arrangement on the co-development of China Law Society’s International Law Research Center (co-sponsored by China Law Society and CUPL), the strategic joint-cooperation agreement for the Cheng Siwei Modern Finance Elite Class (co-sponsored by the Graduate University of Chinese Academic of Sciences (GUSAC) and CUPL), the cooperative agreement for EMBA, EDP program (co-sponsored by CUPL Business School and Richard Ivey School of Business of the University of Western Ontario), and the agreement relating to Beijing Fazheng Group’s donation for the Construction of the International Exchange Center Building on CUPL Xueyuan Lu (graduate) Campus.
More than 1,600 persons attended the ceremony, including: central government officials, state department and provincial and municipal government representatives, scholars, university presidents from home and abroad, correspondents from more than 30 domestic media, CUPL faculty and students, and other distinguished guests.
