On August 29, 2011, 40 CUPL faculty and students returned to China after a one-month commercial law
summer program at Oriel College, Oxford University. CUPL students took courses in several areas,
including: jurisprudence, international private law, international competition law, international intellectual property law,
EU company law, EU organizations, and international tax law. Upon completion of the intensive program,
each CUPL student received a graduation certificate.
During their residency, CUPL students visited the Royal Courts of Justice, Thomson Reuters,
the historic Blackwell Bookstore, and other interesting sites. Students also participated in community activities,
including attending worship services at a local church, boating on the Thames, and eating local barbecue—
allowing the students to supplement their academic studies with cultural experiences.
This was the first Oriel College, Oxford University-CUPL summer program. By enrolling in the program’s courses,
students were able to earn academic credits that are accepted by American and European universities.
