During the meeting, Yu Fei extended a warm welcome to Robin Hickey and his delegation. He reviewed the progress achieved in cooperation between the two universities and commended the professionalism and pragmatic approach demonstrated by both teams in the preliminary work on Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. He stated that, as a prestigious Russell Group university, QUB enjoys an outstanding reputation in the humanities and social sciences, which aligns closely with CUPL’s goal in talent cultivation and disciplinary development. He expressed the hope that, following the principle of making steady progress and achieving key breakthroughs, the two sides would give priority to launching joint programs in areas where conditions are already mature so as to lay a solid foundation for broader collaboration in the future. He looked forward to building on the momentum of this visit to establish a comprehensive, high-quality partnership between the two universities in areas such as talent cultivation, academic research, and cultural exchange, and working together to create a brighter future.

Robin Hickey expressed his sincere gratitude to CUPL for the thoughtful arrangements. He stated that QUB highly values its partnership with CUPL. Both universities are committed to cultivating outstanding graduates with interdisciplinary skills, global perspectives, and the ability to address global challenges; this shared commitment has laid a solid foundation for smooth cooperation and exchange between the two universities. Noting that this year marks the 180th anniversary of QUB, he expressed the hope that both universities would seize this opportunity to work closely together to bring the joint law program to fruition. He further proposed gradually extending cooperation to related fields in the humanities and social sciences, such as political science, international relations, and economics. Through jointly establishing cooperative programs, promoting faculty exchanges, and conducting joint research, both sides can leverage their respective strengths to achieve synergistic development and make contributions to Sino-British cultural and educational exchanges.
