Council Chair Jiang Zeting Meets with Honorary President of the International Institute of Space Law, Tanja Masson-Zwaan

On the morning of November 18, Council Chair Jiang Zeting of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) met with Tanja Masson-Zwaan, Honorary President of the International Institute of Space Law and Deputy Director of the International Institute of Air and Space Law at Leiden University, at CUPL’s Haidian Campus. Vice President Lu Chunlong accompanied the meeting.

Jiang Zeting extended a warm welcome to Masson-Zwaan and her delegation. He emphasized CUPL's commitment to implementing the principles of the National Education Conference, aligning with the strategic goal of boosting Chinese educational strength, and actively promoting international exchanges and collaboration to enhance the country’s role in global governance. Jiang commended Masson-Zwaan for her significant contributions to international space law. He highlighted the fruitful results of CUPL’s collaboration with Leiden University in talent cultivation, research cooperation, and academic exchanges.

Looking ahead, Council Chair Jiang expressed hope for deepened partnerships between CUPL, Leiden University, and the International Institute of Space Law. He emphasized joint research and talent development in space law and other areas, reinforcing a shared commitment to contributing wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Masson-Zwaan expressed her gratitude for CUPL’s warm reception. She noted the remarkable achievements in student and faculty exchanges and academic collaborations between Leiden University and CUPL. She also acknowledged CUPL’s academic team for their outstanding contributions to strengthening the International Institute of Space Law’s partnership with China. Masson-Zwaan expressed optimism for future cooperation, including co-hosting international conferences as a bridge for China’s participation in outer space governance. She highlighted the importance of strengthening the legal framework and advancing international governance to benefit humanity’s shared future.

The two sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, research cooperation, and academic exchanges in international space law, reaching a consensus on further collaboration.
