30-Year Reunion for Alumni of Grade 1987, the Pioneers on the Changping Campus

From October 5 to 6, the 30-year reunion for alumni of class of 1987 of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was successfully held. The alumni gathered together to long for the good old days, to recall friendships in their youth, and to discuss the future of their alma mater. Lu Shaohua, Director of the Alumni Office, heads of relevant administrative offices and schools, and senior teachers took part in the celebration activities.

In the afternoon of October 5, the 30-year reunion of the graduation of the class of 1987 was held in Jundu Hotel of Changping District. The event was presided over by Wang Guanwu, an alumnus of the class of 1987 from the Department of International Economic Law.

Alumnus representative Batu, delivered a speech on behalf of Feng Shiyong, CUPL Vice President and President of the Alumni Association, who was unable to attend the event due to a business trip. In his speech, Feng Shiyong extended his welcome and greetings to all the alumni of the class of 1987, especially alumni present and their families, and congratulated the alumni for their outstanding achievements. He said that the alumni of the class of 1987, as the first undergraduates of the Changping Campus of CUPL, are the founders, pioneers, builders and witnesses of the new campus. The “pioneer cattle” (Tuo Huang Niu) established by the alumni of 1987 is not only the logo of the university, but also a spirit and a culture, which is an integrated and inseparable part of the education ecology of the university. Feng Shiyong also pointed out that next year will witness the 70th birthday of CUPL, which is an important historical node of CUPL’s development. The university will hold a grand celebration. He hoped that everyone could continue to support the development of CUPL.

A video commemorating the graduation of the class of 1987 of the CUPL was played at the reunion, reviewing the life of the class of 1987 on campus. Current freshmen also sent a greeting and wishes through video to the alumni of the class of 1987. Afterwards, Lu Shaohua, on behalf of the Alumni Office, extended a warm welcome to the alumni of the class of 1987 for their return. Together with the alumni, he reviewed their life and study on the Changping Campus. He said that alumni were viewed as highlights and assets of the university. In the future, he hoped that everyone would make more brilliant achievements through hard work. While developing their own career, he hoped that the alumni could contribute as much as they can to the development of their alma mater.

Next, four representatives of teachers who had taught the alumni of the class of 1987 took the stage to speak. Liu Shouren, a teacher from the Department of Law, talked about friendship, youth , and the future. Guan Xiaofeng, a teacher from the Department of Economic law, sent a message to the alumni hoping that they would maintain good health and a good state of mind, with a hope that in ten years time, all alumni can get together again with a good spirit. Zhang Xiaosen, a teacher from the Department of International Economic Law, hoped the alumni would keep in mind the spirit of CUPL and wish their alma mater a better tomorrow. Sun Dongmin, a teacher from the Department of Political Science, reviewed the history of CUPL and hoped that the alumni would “make progress every step of the way”. The teachers’ speeches, encouragement and blessings won rounds of applause. Alumni representatives Li Yanhong, Fan Kaizhou, Guo Hongbin, Bian Yongmin, Gao Shulin, Zhao Ping and Du Guochang, spoke in turn. The alumni recalled university life and were proud of the development and changes of CUPL today. They expressed their gratitude to the teachers and their deep blessings to their classmates.

In the end, the alumni presented a variety of performances. Familiar songs such as “The Red Army, never fearing the challenging Long March”, “Tomorrow will be better” and “Youth” lead the reunion to a climax. During the dinner banquet, alumni the class of 1987 toasted for their friendship.

In the morning of October 6, the alumni returned to CUPL and gathered at the entrance of the Changping Campus. The freshmen volunteers presented flowers, the university mascots “Tuotuos” and CUPLer Magazines.
