CUPL Attends the 11th Legal Alliance Summit

On July 16, the 11th Legal Alliance Summit for China's Political and Legal Science Colleges and Universities was held in Xi'an. The summit was sponsored by Northwest University of Political Science and Law. Presidents, department heads, experts and scholars from the nine-member colleges and universities of the Legal Alliance attended the meeting and delivered speeches. CUPL Council Chair Hu Ming, President Ma Huaide, Vice Presidents Feng Shiyong, Shi Jianzhong, and Chang Baoguo, as well as heads of relevant departments and offices, attended the meeting.

At the opening ceremony, Gao Xiaoli, Vice President of the Sixth Circuit Court of the Supreme People's Court, Xie Pengcheng, Director of the Institute of Procuratorial Theory of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Zhu Beibei, Consultant of the Humanities and Social Sciences Education Division of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and Liu Kuanren, Vice Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, delivered speeches respectively. CUPL Council Chair Hu Ming delivered a speech on behalf of the Secretary-General Institute.

CUPL Council Chair Hu Ming said in his speech that the Legal Alliance should stick to the original aspirations of "setting up standards" for a country ruled by law and "setting good examples" for legal education, uphold the missions of cultivating talents for the country, as well as making more and greater contributions to running a satisfactory legal education for the people, and comprehensively advancing the rule of law.

After the opening ceremony, a seminar was held. CUPL President Ma Huaide, made the first keynote speech on the topic of "Accelerating Training of Foreign-Related Legal Talents to Serve China’s Rule of Law".

The Legal Alliance was established in 2010. Its Chinese name Li Ge was transliterated from the English word "legal" implying building rules, specifications, systems, and standards. As an exchange and discussion platform for the political and legal science colleges and universities over the country, the alliance aims to share high-quality legal education resources, promote the standardized development of legal education, improve the quality of legal personnel training, and contribute to promoting of the rule of law and the construction of a socialist country ruled by law. At present, the Alliance has nine members, including China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), Southwest University of Political Science & Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Gansu University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Shandong University of Political Science and Law, and Henan University of Economics and Law. The cooperation fields involve discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, teaching staff, international cooperation and exchange, Party building, etc. The Alliance has become a legal education community that leads the reform of legal education and teaching as well as the innovation of the training mode of legal talents.
