On June 6, the women's 11-a-side final match between CUPL and Tsinghua University in the 2021 Capital University Football League was held at Beijing University of Posts and telecommunications. After 90 minutes of fierce competition, both sides ended the match with a score of 1:1. Finally, in the penalty shootouts, the CUPL's women's football team won 1:0, defeating Tsinghua University and winning the championship with a total score of 2:1.
This year's Capital University Football League started on May 15, 2021. A total of 20 Beijing university teams participated in the four-week competition. Under the targeted guidance of the coaches and by virtue of excellent personal skills and tacit team cooperation, CUPL's women's football team defeated Beijing Jiaotong University, China Agricultural University, Beijing Technology and Business University and China University of Mining and Technology successively 2:0, 6:0, 8:0 and 1:0, respectively, at the group stage. Then, CUPL defeated Beijing City University 1:0 in the knockout competition and successfully advanced to the final with a penalty kick score of 3:2 when playing against their rival, Beijing Wuzi University in the semi-final. Finally, CUPL won the championship against Tsinghua University in the final, obtaining the CUPL's 16th championship since 2011.
Behind the glory of the 16th championship is not only the joint efforts of all coaches and athletes, but also the great support of teachers from the Physical Education Department and other relevant departments. Thanks to CUPL’s long-term attention to and continuous investment in women's football, the team is thriving. This League Championship is to prepare for the national competition.
