On June 18, 2019, the Institute for Intellectual Property, Innovation and Competition (IIPIC) was inaugurated and the seminar on “Intellectual Property Protection and Talent Cultivation in the era of Technological Transformation” was successfully held by IIPIC, in cooperation with the School of Juris Master of CUPL. Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his visit to CUPL and under the background that the CPC and the country attach great importance to strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights, these events are important measures of CUPL to focus on the latest development in the field of intellectual property rights and to promote the “double first-class” work.
The inauguration ceremony of was moderated by Du Xueliang, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Department of CUPL. Liu Chuntian, President of the Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of China Law Society, Shi Jianzhong, Vice President of CUPL and Xu Shenjian, President of School of Juris Master, CUPL, delivered speeches successively. On behalf of the Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of China Law Society, Law School of Renmin University of China and Intellectual Property Academy of Renmin Univesity of China, Liu Chuntian warmly congratulated on the establishment of IIPIC and wished it great success in the future. Prof. Shi Jianzhong emphasized that the establishment of the institute was a response to the needs of the current era. CUPL would strongly support IIPIC and hoped it can be clearly positioned, constantly innovated to effectively improve its comprehensive competitiveness and academic influence. He also hoped that IIPIC can use this platform to unite and attract professionals of intellectual property law. CUPL sincerely wished IIPIC constant development and growth. Prof. Xu Shenjian said that the School of Juris Master would fully support IIPIC and sincerely hoped that it would flourish in the future.
The seminar was moderated by Prof. Han Wensheng, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Juris Master, CUPL, Mao Jinsheng, Counsel of the Protection Department of the State Intellectual Property Office, and Chen Jinchuan, Vice President of Beijing Intellectual Property Court made keynote speeches. Afterwards, the first session of discussion was moderated by Prof. Qu Sanqiang, Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of China Law Society. Prof. Du Ying, Director of Intellectual Property Research Center of Central University of Finance and Economics and Prof. Ma Zhiyi, Director of the Department of Economic, Civil and Commercial Affairs, Center for Governmental Legal Studies, Ministry of Justice, made keynote speeches on intellectual property protection in the era of technological transformation. The second session of the seminar was moderated by Prof. Lin Xiuqin, Vice President of Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of China Law Society. Prof. Lai Xiaopeng, of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School of CUPL and Prof. Liu Zhihui, Vice Dean of School of Juris Master delivered keynote speeches on the cultivation of intellectual property talents in the era of technological transformation. Other participants of the seminar included Xu Wei, Director of Department of Social Service, Copyright Administration of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Liu Ying, Professor of Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School of CUPL, Chen Jian and Zheng Xuanyu, Deputy Directors of the Intellectual Property Research Center, and research fellows Fu Jicun, Wu Lan, Li Lin, Shi Yacong, etc. Prof. Feng Xiaoqing, academic leader of intellectual property law of CUPL congratulated the holding of this seminar.
Afterwards, Prof. Fei Anling, Honorary Director of the IIPIC introduced the mission of the institute. Prof. Tao Qian, Assistant Director of IIPIC, introduced the staff. On behalf of all the members of the institute, Prof. Tao Qian promised that the staff of IIPIC would abide by the regulations of CUPL and devote themselves to the scientific research work.
